Same sex marriage and procreation

October 31st, 2008

Today, same-sex marriage is an important issue which brings many debates to the society in terms of ethics and morality. I think that marriage is a legal act and it does not change in the heterosexual marriage or homosexual one. As Wedgwood mentioned, both of type of marriage has legal rights in terms of economy and social benefits. However, with this type of marriage, procreation issue is appeared. We knew that one of the aims of heterosexual marriage is the procreation. ( in general and for society). With out it, many countries will suffer accordingly and in these countries, population of elders will increase as we see in the today’s most developed countries. In my opinion, homo sexual marriage can be for only minority maybe but it can contribute to this situation and threaten to existence of next generation.

Try to remember that it is not what you argue that is important but how you support what you argue- so then how do you support your assertion that same-sex marriage can threaten the next generation- apart from the assumption that marriage is for procreation?
